WHO! Am I Seen?

I’m not sure I am seen

in the words I write.

If that be so,

and I am certain hereof,

Then apart for

Max in Halifax

it is so clearly

why I am never

asked to read.

Or is it deeper?

Is it that stigma

within a person

that truth be told

they would not object

my being hurled

from a rooftop?

WHO!

Let me see you

in your writing!

Stop disguising.

Let me see you

in your writing!

Stop disguising.

Give no thought

to family sensitivites.

They have that commodity

‘Love’ we call it,

A commodity taken for granted,

Their birthright.

You allowed that commodity

to deftly pass you by.

Yet if express myself

as I truly am

I cease to be read at all.

There is nothing.

WHO! Will pass by soon.

Who! Must!!

I know that

which I saw on Monday

is the preparation.

That which in an instant

reversed all.

Life became ‘living hell’

Death became the

Doorway to Life unfettered.

It is a reassurance

I cannot express.

What I saw no words can I find

to even tough upon the beauty,

the softness,

the colours within colours,

all pulsating life

plainly visible.

Walls of texture indescribable,

Light I’ve never seen before.

I am assured.

WHO! has thrown me the lifeline.

WHO! has, at last,

in the quiet of the evening hour

come alongside.

What right do people have

to judge me?

To play god?

To rule what is right

To rule what is wrong

To dictate what is natural

and therefore what is unnatural

To dictate normality

and thereby

decide abnormality

To then deduce

that

Wrong

Unnatural

Abnormailty

has only one outcome

Summary execution

Ken Webb is a writer and proofreader. His website, kennwebb.com, showcases his work as a writer, blogger and podcaster, resting on his successive careers as a police officer, progressing to a junior lawyer in succession and trusts as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, a retired officer with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, and latterly, for three years, the owner and editor of two lifestyle magazines in Liverpool.

He also just handed over a successful two year chairmanship in Gloucestershire with Cheltenham Regency Probus.

Pandemic aside, he spends his time equally between his city, Liverpool, and the county of his birth, Gloucestershire.

In this fast-paced present age, proof-reading is essential. And this skill also occasionally leads to copy-editing writers’ manuscripts for submission to publishers and also student and post graduate dissertations.
