About the Author
On the Isle of Wight with the Hampshire branch of the family - the pursed lips say it all ~ ‘never take life too seriously!’
Autumn 2025 ~ Spring 2026
Born in Cheltenham, I am a Gloucestershire and Liverpool-based writer, my interest being poetry, history and the arts which commenced with my first self-published work Idle Thoughts in Liverpool.
Themes tend to centre upon self-discovery and identity. In my author name are five published books: "Idle Thoughts: An Anthology of Poetry and Prose" (soft-back 2009), a collection of poems and prose, followed by its sequel "Meanderings: An Anthology of Poetry and Prose" (hard-back 2011) by Spiderwize.
Winter Stories is a collection of short stories in Kindle format.
This followed the successful short story, also on Kindle, Bluitt & Bodgitt about a Solicitors Practice in Liverpool, humorous but with an unusual twist.
The website is multifaceted featuring content categories, including poetry, metaphysical, history, art, fiction, aviation, nature, and reviews.
In September 2025 the website commenced a series of Quizzes on the banner European Game. We cover many subjects, deliberately focussing only on Europe and visitors can select the country of interest and participate in a lighthearted game but with serious intent and generally set to moderately difficult.
The website galleries showcase visual art and multimedia, such as digital galleries created by the author using the mid-journey digital program, and short video features.
The tone is literary, contemplative, often personal, and might appeal to readers interested in deeper, cross genre explorations, rather than commercial or genre fiction.

When dark minds have even darker intent, be warned! The enemy, at our gate, has already breached our boundary. The threat to every nation and community that believe in freedom and democracy is the threat of invasion; the plunderer that lives by one code only…
What you have, I want! And I’m going to have it! And I am going to kill to get it!
We look for compromise.
But men,
and women who worship those men,
do not want compromise.

When dictators find common cause, when civic institutions, the very lifeblood of a nation, are undermined, even removed then ordinary people need to reflect long and hard upon that ancient saying…
“Be warned, the enemy is no longer at the gate, the enemy has entered into our courtyard. They are even within our house!”
It is only a matter of time before that which we dread most, will happen.

Unless we put our house in order.

With Tansy & Willow (Barley resting) Northumberland Family Wedding ~ Caroline & Jack November 2023.png
I keep this here deliberately because it reminds me of life’s extremes and viciousness. A wonderful day with the family, we never foresaw the tragic loss of Tansy in August 2024.
This is when I look at the ugliest apparitions of human nature the world over, and see nothing more than a gargoyle occupying the Kremlin as he personally and deliberately sanctions the killing of totally innocent law-abiding citizens in Ukraine. That man will not go in the glory he so desperately seeks for himself and presumes to be his destiny.
