With a furtive side glance, he readies Team Alpha for execution merely by the slight movement of his hand. He knows the Director well. His fingers, almost unseen, at his side, instinctively count down

E X E C U T E
Life ebbed quickly through thr crumpled hood. Lifeless impatiently taking the shape of the departed hacker.
She wached as Team Bravo entered the darkened room. The Director glanced to her left. The briefest acknowledgement, te warmth of her gaze.
Well done, Number One. The floor is yours.
Yes Ma’am.
As the Director moved swiftly, silently to the doors, eyes sweeping Team Alpha, a sense of justice and of the international rule of law, of democracy and freedom was palpable even here, in the heart of Intelligence.
The doors slid silently behind her.
Inside, there is no room for conspiracy, nor rogue states.
Outside, normal life ticked along oblivious to what takes place on our collective behalf… as the clock inched closer to the evening rush hour in London and Cheltenham; the lunch time rush hour, five hours behind, in Washington D.C.
Back channels remained open to those gone rogue.
