Happiness When All Around Us is Despair
The last few weeks the website home page has been displaying portraiture.
Oh, you’ve taken that down. I liked that one.
Yes, but I can’t flood the home page with portraiture?
Why not?
Well, I hear your point, everyone. So I’ve asked the website’s consultancy over in Denmark to give me their thoughts. We zoom every week, and in the meantime, I have kept Barcelona in place, as I want to introduce Portsmouth Harbour to you. There is something of a family connection with the harbour. It’s all to do with a yacht, and another yacht called Atlantic Challenger from further back and a certain painting from Germany now an heirloom.
With 24/7 news there is no let-up on the horror within which we are caught. We have lost our moral compass. A warning though. If anyone suggests to me that regaining our moral compass can only be achieved by returning to religion, any religion, I will not hold back despite my faith being as solid as ever.

Ken Webb is a writer and proofreader. His website, kennwebb.com, showcases his work as a writer, blogger and podcaster, resting on his successive careers as a police officer, progressing to a junior lawyer in succession and trusts as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, a retired officer with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, and latterly, for three years, the owner and editor of two lifestyle magazines in Liverpool.
He also just handed over a successful two year chairmanship in Gloucestershire with Cheltenham Regency Probus.
Pandemic aside, he spends his time equally between his city, Liverpool, and the county of his birth, Gloucestershire.
In this fast-paced present age, proof-reading is essential. And this skill also occasionally leads to copy-editing writers’ manuscripts for submission to publishers and also student and post graduate dissertations.
