COFFEE, ART AND LITERATURE GALLERY
COFFEE, ART AND LITERATURE GALLERY
Art and Literature are absolutely fundamental and essential to every community of people, however small, and are testimony to every country throughout the world. A gallery is testament to that community, its evolution and history. Those who argue that only their gallery is the true gallery, run parallel to that group of people who insist that the being they worship is the “one true God.” They are in dangerous proximity to that terrifying and thoroughly discredited principle ~ Eugenics.
When I visit a gallery or museum it is in order to enrich and widen my understanding, and to learn about the community of people, the nation, that it represents. No community has the right to insist upon first place. Learning this lesson is to record humankind’s total failure to ever grasp this point. Once upon a time I naively believed that this lesson was now being learned. But as I watched the last century bludgeon into this 21st Century, and then have watched day by day, and it seems also hour by hour, this century’s ultimate unravelling, then I simply observe that the writing is upon the wall, yet again.
In whatever nation or community you live, when you see the first hint of attack upon art and literature, you are witnessing the lighted taper that will explode into a conflagration. That is the time to take swift action.
A practical example. I abhor what Russia is doing in Ukraine. I despise what is happening in the Middle East. Does that mean that I want to see Russia fall, its incredible art and literature, science and physics become ashes? Absolutely not. And so, too, is my view and reply as regards Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, Iran, Yemen and North Korea, and China.
That is why the Galleries on this website are so important. It will not be otherwise.

Ken Webb is a writer and proofreader. His website, kennwebb.com, showcases his work as a writer, blogger and podcaster, resting on his successive careers as a police officer, progressing to a junior lawyer in succession and trusts as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, a retired officer with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, and latterly, for three years, the owner and editor of two lifestyle magazines in Liverpool.
