Ukraine Dispatches
Volume II
UD 1 ~ Christmas Day 2024
Should any visitors to the website’s article Gentleman in Moscow think that this light-hearted book review might intimate a sympathy with Russia and Putin, I merely ask that the eye-line shifts to the top of the screen where, of course, one sees the beautiful blue and yellow of the independent sovereign state and nation of the people of Ukraine that forms the background and backbone of the logo, which hands are set at 11:04. [i]
It is Christmas Day. For those who have an interest in Europe, freedom, true democracy and of course our defence, NATO, today’s attacks by missiles and drones throughout Ukraine are what a dictator does. His principles are:
Deny any hostile intent when he orders preparations for invasion
When Intelligence confirms that invasion is imminent, express anger, outrage even, at such a preposterous suggestion
He has already ordered the illegal invasion of a sovereign territory with no warning
He conducts a ruthless campaign of arrests, violence and imprisonment against every person who even uses the noun WAR
He closes peremptorily all media outlets that are independent of the Kremlin
He insists that he is merely conducting a special military operation which means, for him, that war could not be further from his mind
Within his borders he brutalises
In Ukraine he authorises the murder after torture of people even in the street, in full view of international media over whom he has no control
Thousands of Ukrainian children are snatched and removed to within this man’s borders
Political opponents are murdered, openly, contemptuously ~ Mr Navalny is but one victim
This dictator is weak, restricted in travel because of international arrest warrants
This does not stop his fraternisation with China
Emboldened, he now directly involves North Korea
The man is the classic politburo gambler unable to foresee that should a call be made from Washington DC USA to Beijing China, that those ten thousand North Korean troops would evaporate overnight - The North Korean dictator will do exactly what Beijing directs
The list is endless
War is subjective.
We must stand by Ukraine. The 46th President has been lamentable in his policy of giving just enough but no more, refusing air cover.
The incoming 47th President is, it seems, looking for the quick deal that will feather his interests. He would counter, that he wishes to rebuild and protect the American people.
Well, if you believe that, you’ll believe in Santa Claus.
The Americans do not have the wherewithal to be the world’s policeman even though they have the military might.
I had intended letting Ukraine Dispatches rest.
Understand the mindset of the dictatorial expansionist. The man ~ or woman ~ who wants to put the clock back, and recreate the Soviet Union. Who wants to recreate the East German DDR.
Simply put, giving in to Putin will be nothing less than a rerun of the débâcle of the Munich Pact with Adolf Hitler in September 1938 at the expense of the Czechoslovakia as it then was
In September 1938, Adolf Hitler then stated to Neville Chamberlain that this now settled all affairs and that he had no further territorial ambitions in Europe.
In March 1939 he invaded and occupied Czechoslovakia.
Today, Ukraine.
Tomorrow Finland, the Baltic States, Moldova and Poland.
We have nothing for which to thank President Biden. Entrusting our future to the elect president is akin to handing Dennis the Menace a hand grenade with a lighted fuse.
The businessman should stick to his cameo appearances on Home Alone 2. When I saw that, suddenly I saw the mindset of the American State. My god. They really do go for TV as real life.
The Americans are unable to deal with any of this.
As regards the attacks on Ukraine today, Hitler did the same to Britain on 25 December 1940. I say again, war is subjective.
There is a glint of light in America. It is too early to say this with confidence, but might it be that the newly elected Republicans have sent a clear message to their President Elect.
Yes, we are grateful to you for helping us to become elected representatives on Capitol Hill. But if you think that the Republican Party is the MAGA Party, or the Trump Party, think again!
Notes
[i] For those interested, that simply reminds me of my police service five decades ago as Constable 1104. I owe much to the police service and to the Gloucestershire Constabulary.
