Our [Parents,] Grandparents and Great Grandparents

Introduction

I was pulled up short yesterday when a news item flashed on my screen as I was working. I flagged it to look into as I did not wish to lose my train of thought on my work. It did, however, cling to the hull like a limpet mine.

This morning, en route to Lancashire, I did a search to find more information.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the meeting in Berlin this week has issued the starkest warning yet.

Europe must prepare for a potential full-scale conflict with Russia, urging allies to be ready for a "scale of war our grandparents and great-grandparents endured".

He emphasized that "Russia has brought war back to Europe, and we must be prepared".

Key points from his statement in Berlin include:

  • Europe is Russia's "next target" Mr Rutte underlined that NATO members are in harm's way and that all NATO countries, especially European Members, must urgently ramp up their defences.

  • Need for urgency: Mr Rutte also expressed considerable concern that "too many are quietly complacent". They do not feel the urgency of the threat, believing that time is on their side, and simply put this is not true. It is a fallacy.

  • Increased defence spending: The Secretary General called for a rapid increase in allied defence spending and production, to ensure NATO forces have the necessary resources to keep the European continent safe. The continent includes the British Isles.

  • Russia's capabilities: Mark RUTTE soberly noted that Russia could well be ready to use military force against NATO within five years - by 2030 - given that Vladimir Putin has now successfully switched Russia’s economy entirely to war production. This is not the action of one state trying illegally to suppress another state.

The warning serves as a call to action for NATO countries to invest heavily in their defence capabilities to deter a potential large-scale aggression by Russia, similar in scope to the two world wars of the 20th century.

End

So how do I react to this? What do I see from my own perspective?

I see emerge out of the mist, a three stage plan:

  1. In 18 March 2014 the illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014. This would be a test on how the Allies - and more particularly NATO - would respond. There was no response.

  2. On 2 February 2022 the Illegal invasion of Ukraine with the direct threefold plan to defeat, destroy and subjugate the Ukrainian Nation. Russian people see this as just and proper, that the war they are engaged in from that date was started by NATO. But the Russian mindset is conditioned never to think for itself but to accept blindly and without hesitation the state-controlled Russian media.

  3. In 2016 and the years leading up to 2016, the total corruption of an already corrupt man, rendering the eventual so-called leader of the free world, merely the puppet and Putin the puppeteer. In short, placing America firmly in the pocket of Vladimir Putin.

Everybody could see this. The group of people who could not see it, was the American people. Fortress America. Make America great again.

War with Russia is inevitable. Does today’s generation possess the same innate qualities of [our parents,] grandparents and great grandparents?

No!

Today, Russian state-controlled media revels in the tensions it is creating between America and the European Union.

What is even more worrying is that America is more critical and disparaging of Europe than it is of Russia. This is unprecedented and has only ever happened during the 45th and 47th presidencies.

I see America as that nation truly is. I see the peace dividend of the last eighty years as nonsense, with the result that the many stories I’ve read over decades but instantly dismissed, as being uncomfortably closer to the truth than collective peace dividend writers of history have eagerly portrayed American GI Joe Britain between 1942-1945.

Arrogant, bombastic, unaware of much of what was going on beyond their bases. In this 21st century, it is now clear. America was in right from September 1939 and fought almost alone on two fronts, Europe and the Pacific with reluctant Britain and its own allies lending a hand, never more than second or third fiddle.

I do not trust America. I no longer admire America as a nation. It is a nation that does not stand for the principles of its founding fathers. It is a nation that still hankers after segregation.

Why? Because they elected a man totally unfit for public office, let alone POTUS.

The White House, POTUS, the Oval Office, the West Wing, the now destroyed East Wing ~ all of these hitherto hallowed titles have been wiped out by a man with a fetish for fake sun tan, a man who governs by executive order - in other words by decree - a man who should, with his wife, be removed once and for all from Washington DC.

When a country is governed by decree, it is sidestepping democracy and freedom in favour of autocracy.

When challenged, apoplexy, derision and ridicule follow.

MAGA Man has been duped and cultivated since his Apprentice Days. All those conversations, all those ‘tutorials’, all that cosiness, all the language even that comes from him, is played into him right from the days of the 2016 Russian-rigged Elections. The one person that Kremlin Man could not have coped with was Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as POTUS. It would have been his undoing.

Venezuela is straight out of the Putin-Lavrov Book on How to Do Things the Soviet Way. Two old crotchets who hold the world to ransom and with the direct connivance of the stooge MAGA MAN.

We need to heed Secretary-General Mark Rutte’s Address and Warning. His words carry the full weight of the Churchillian warnings of the 1930s. He too was derided. We know the end result.

I say again:

We need to heed Secretary-General Mark Rutte’s Address and Warning.

His words carry the full weight of the Churchillian warnings of the 1930s.

He too was derided. We know the end result.
