Volume 10 which is Volume 1 of 2 Volumes 1939-1942 relating to RAF Bomber Losses in the Middle East and Mediterranean by David Gunby & Pelham Temple.
I have rightly placed this where it should be immediately following William Chorley’s Volume 1; because it concentrates the mind.
Yes, we were at war, we were fighting a defensive war in dealing with the Blitz on the British Isles including the neutral nation and Republic of Ireland (at that time Eire). The Battle of Britain in 1940 was indeed that. It was not just England. The United Kingdom’s four capitals ~ London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Belfast demonstrated the framework within which the Nazi hierarchy worked. Bomb the civilian population into submission.
So far as I can tell, Volume 2 relating to the Middle East and Mediterranean Theatres by Messrs Gunby and Temple has not yet gone to print. I reflect upon the work required by the researchers. It is a collossal undertaking. A Set of this magnitude requires extraordinary fortitude, skill, daring and self-discipline.
