The Eyes

The Eyes

Have I, by any chance
finally met him?

Deep
Exciting
Gentle
Throbbing
Open
Handsome
Cute
Beguiling
Deep blue eyes
Penetrating.

A guttural laugh,
A beaming smile,
An ability to love,
A genuine lad.

Refreshing,
Absorbing,
A man with a heart,
Amusing,
Serious,
Especial quality,
Instant relation,
Instant recognition.

I wonder.
The future, life, everything?§

Afterword

If I lived in Uganda, most Ugandans would say, uh... you’re one of “THOSE”! An insult to god and all that other rubbish they’ll come out with, and not just Uganda.

So if, perchance, you know me and cannot quite work out why I am writing things promoting the LGBTQI+ Community, it is simply because of this. Just as the Jew is a member of their community, just as the Muslim is a member of their community, just as the Christian is a member of their community, then so am I a member of my community.

A problem? Then, cut the link.

But firstly, get into the twenty-first Century.

Secondly, consider your ancestors and your descendants. As the stars can be counted in the skies, all the way back through your ancestry, you’ll have ancestors who would be in the LGBTQI+ if they were here today, and you will most definitely have descendants who will be LGBTQI+.

Thirdly, stop accidentally making people’s lives…

2024 is very different from 2009.

Ken Webb is a writer and proofreader. His website, kennwebb.com, showcases his work as a writer, blogger and podcaster, resting on his successive careers as a police officer, progressing to a junior lawyer in succession and trusts as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, a retired officer with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, and latterly, for three years, the owner and editor of two lifestyle magazines in Liverpool.

He also just handed over a successful two year chairmanship in Gloucestershire with Cheltenham Regency Probus.

Pandemic aside, he spends his time equally between his city, Liverpool, and the county of his birth, Gloucestershire.

In this fast-paced present age, proof-reading is essential. And this skill also occasionally leads to copy-editing writers’ manuscripts for submission to publishers and also student and post graduate dissertations.
