How Should I Respond? A Year On! (In 2021)
REFLECTION UPON LOCKDOWN
A Year on from writing this, we are, as it were, coming out through the other side. It is not over, but we are in a much better place than we were twelve months ago. International co-operation is vital. We see, too, how brittle we are. We see the breeding ground of international conspiracy theories, we see the response of the ‘I couldn’t care less’ and ‘I refuse to wear a mask as it breaches my human rights.’
Asked by a friend how he can best protect his young wife and family, I wrote down these words to him four days ago …
Quite Simply, This S … …
... let us not be negative
in this grim and grievous hour.
Let us not be selfish
when unselfishness is required.
Let us heed, just for once,
our governments,
wherever we be
upon this beautiful Planet.
Let us Stay Home.
Let us think how, of others, we can help.
That, surely, is the demand of this solemn hour.
All WILL be well.
The Night is far spent…
Dawn approaches.
And with the dawn,
darkness retreats
in the relentless advance of light.
And as it is written
Light overcame darkness
and the darkness comprehended it not
Come on everyone
Pull in one direction!
We row together,
We steer together,
We work this out together!
And to the doom and gloom,
the conspiracy theorists,
I say this:
Be away with you!
And dare not to permit your shadow
to cross my door.
