Meanderings

Introduction by Alexander M Long

(October 2011)

When I first heard about Meanderings, I knew instantly that it would be a project I was going to care deeply about. My first encounter with the author was at the casting for the cover model. I was a relatively inexperienced model, having only done two shoots beforehand, and I had no idea what to expect from the casting. Ken put me at ease once he showed me a copy of Idle Thoughts, the predecessor to Meanderings and I was amazed by the skill, the beauty and the passion that came out at me. Ken’s ability to take his thoughts and translate them so fluidly onto the page astounded me, and I knew this would be a fantastic opportunity, and upon hearing that I had indeed been cast as the cover model, I felt so proud and excited about what was to come.

It has now been four months since that first meeting, and I have been given the honour of writing my own introduction.

In these months, I have read some of the most awe-inspiring and, at times, harrowing pieces I have yet seen, and this has given me so much inspiration for the photo shoot I have done with Alexander Petricca.

Entering the mindset of such deep characters is no easy task, and with both Ken’s and Alexander's guidance, I feel and know that I have become a part of something that we are also proud of, and that will become a major work. I have also had the joy of meeting both Ludovic and Heidi over coffee in Café Rouge, Met Quarter, Liverpool and of whom I speak and read in my role as Dieter Baumgartner in They Came in the Night.

Nor does this mark the end for me as a model and actor. It is but the beginning!

So I want to thank Ken and Alexander for giving me this unbelievable experience, and to thank you also for picking up this book.

Enjoy reading. I know I did!
