THE WEBSITE continues on course as we approach 2022, and I am pleased to confirm that we have now added a toggle on the foot at the right of the home page that enables one to see the English text translated into either German or Spanish.
I am impressed with the program. The translation is more advanced and accurate than that which we all tend to use.
A note of caution, though.
Over the next three months I will work with my IT Consultant, Armin Braunsberger Media Digital GmbH of Austria, via Squarespace, the website’s platform, to decide which areas should have the translation feature.
Writers will be aware that poetry written in, say, English, is extremely difficult to accurately translate into one’s preferred language. Simply put, I can say things, poetically, in English that I just cannot say with the same nuance and beauty in German. Likewise, there is beautiful German poetry that contains stanzas and phrases for which there is no adequate English equivalent.
With prose, I am impressed with the translation program. And what attracted me to it more than anything is that it is used, worldwide, by lawyers for the business of translating legal documents. As we know, cases can turn on the strength of one word, one phrase, one sub-clause. So, as a retired junior lawyer, this spoke volumes for me.
I’ve left the comments section on for a limited period. I generally keep comments closed, simply as a heat-shield against the more egregious mind.

In this fast-paced present age, proof-reading is essential. And this skill also occasionally leads to copy-editing writers’ manuscripts for submission to publishers and also student and post graduate dissertations.
