Faith or Origin

Faith or Origin

WRITING CRITICALLY about religion, does not mean the expression of a personal view.

We must have the ability to approach the subject from every angle; to express views that are not one’s own but which may well resonate with many.

If the opposite view is taken, then the exponent of that view advocates censorship. Censorship can be that dangerous step to authoritianism > autocracy > totalitarianism > dictatorship.

There is a time and place for censorship as in a full blown international or world war.

But censorship applied so as to promote or protect simply one religion or creed, is dictatorship.

Religion does not automatically equate to faith.

Faith is able to

  • automatically embrace all religions,

  • see the dovetailing,

  • see the eccentricities and

  • reject warped ideology and outdated fundamentalism.

Faith is able to see the awe and wonder of science and physics without, in any way, detracting from the supernatural origin of the Universe.

The term supernatural does not, here, automatically point to any deity.

There is a more fundamental two-part question.

How did this incredible Universe come about?

How did Nature come about?

Ken Webb is a writer and proofreader. His website, kennwebb.com, showcases his work as a writer, blogger and podcaster, resting on his successive careers as a police officer, progressing to a junior lawyer in succession and trusts as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, a retired officer with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, and latterly, for three years, the owner and editor of two lifestyle magazines in Liverpool.

He also just handed over a successful two year chairmanship in Gloucestershire with Cheltenham Regency Probus.

Pandemic aside, he spends his time equally between his city, Liverpool, and the county of his birth, Gloucestershire.

In this fast-paced present age, proof-reading is essential. And this skill also occasionally leads to copy-editing writers’ manuscripts for submission to publishers and also student and post graduate dissertations.
