Death ~ There is No Finishing, No End!

Death ~ There is No Finishing, No End!

A Thousand Dimensions

Volume 1 2022

I lurk in subterranean places

I am living proof of the cycle of life

There is a beginning

There is an end

But I am proof that the ending

Seemingly permanent,

Is but a parody of Nature’s own

Perennial cycle

You are taught

That when I take you,

Then that is it!

C'est Fini

Es ist Fertig

Consummatum est

It is finished

Not so! Nicht so!

I am cast as the demon.

I am apparently the result of rebellion.

I am cast as a serpent.

The spirit and the soul live in eternity.

There comes a time to depart.

It is painful,

It is diabolical,

The most horrendous acts are perpetrated

That brings about an exit

A departing.

No matter how gentle my arrival,

I leave loved ones’ rent asunder.

It cannot be otherwise.

Those who depart from the peace and comfort

of their beds

have much to thank for,

As another soul jettisons the bed,

As a spirit slips quietly away from beneath the sheets.

I am at the departing.

I am nothing like the portrayal down the ages

God forbid!

Unfinished, the reader will nonetheless pick up the thread of where I take this metaphorically.
Through culture and religion - every culture, every religion - we are given an image of that most elusive and frightening of characters.
Might it be, though, that this departure at the hands of this image, is only a very tiny, tiny part of the whole?

Will I finish it?

If further inspiration comes, yes.

But maybe, that's the whole point.

There is no finishing, no end.

Who knows?

My view six years on?

Most definitely, there is no finishing, no end.

Life is cyclical and as predictable as the seasons, perennial.

His website, kennwebb.com, showcases his work as a writer, blogger and podcaster, resting on his successive careers as a police officer, progressing to a junior lawyer in succession and trusts as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, a retired officer with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, and latterly, for three years, the owner and editor of two lifestyle magazines in Liverpool.

He also just handed over a successful two year chairmanship in Gloucestershire with Cheltenham Regency Probus.

Pandemic aside, he spends his time equally between his city, Liverpool, and the county of his birth, Gloucestershire.
