FLEETING MOMENTS

Cascading

Often his dreams overwhelmed him even in broad daylight, playing themselves out across his sight… an awakening, a jumbled mass of ecstasy, terror, subliminity, nightmare, heavenly, inferno, mushrooms, a man writing his apocolyptic dreams that then become twenty-one chapters holding humankind to ransom, and twenty-one centuries further on, still held to ransom

Truly?

Will she truly accept my explanation?

God, I hope so.

I just know…

Strumming

The melody comes,

back and forth,

always when I least expect it,

ermmm as my friend wrote it…

“those fingerprints on the door”…

Afterwards

That was quite a send off.

Resting his eyes

No, your uncle is resting his eyes. Leave him be. He has an important performance this evening.

What Rachmaninov again, I bet!

Young lady, remove that tone or it is to your room you go!

‘It’s alright Caroline.’

From the couch…

Rosie, I’m sorry. You’re right. I did promise but I’m just resting my eyes. Tomorrow morning. Would that be okay?

Caroline’s quiet smile and dazzling eyes told Rosie what to say.

Yes Uncle, I’ll write it ALL down for tomorrow morning.

A very young lady was happy to feel the gentle warmth of her mother’s hand on her hair, expertly steering her out of the room, just like Daddy did too.

You see I knew it Mummy, Uncle wasn’t asleep. But now I know what resting-my-eyes means! Daddy says that a lot.

Oh does he, Rosie?! (a little giggle)

Deep

Oh so deep

in that first ninety minutes…

Slowly refocusing

That final ninety minutes

gradually awakening to the new day…
