You have been my refuge in every life. You have existed forever. You are outside time. I know this. I do…

I close my eyes … oak-like … its bark is open, the photo-lens of my mind captures a huge wound where once a branch … and I don't know how, but I do know I've just seen a tree that once I gazed upon many lifetimes ago, a thousand years or more.

I do know this.

I knew you then as I know you now and this gives me hope beyond measure... Where on earth has all this come from? How do these words come tumbling out?

I will sleep now. And where on earth is that? I've been there! I know it. But not in this lifetime. I begin to grasp … A thousand years is to You but a day …, and but one day as a thousand years. Extraordinary.

Ken Webb is a writer and proofreader. His website, kennwebb.com, showcases his work as a writer, blogger and podcaster, resting on his successive careers as a police officer, progressing to a junior lawyer in succession and trusts as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, a retired officer with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, and latterly, for three years, the owner and editor of two lifestyle magazines in Liverpool.

He also just handed over a successful two year chairmanship in Gloucestershire with Cheltenham Regency Probus.

Pandemic aside, he spends his time equally between his city, Liverpool, and the county of his birth, Gloucestershire.

In this fast-paced present age, proof-reading is essential. And this skill also occasionally leads to copy-editing writers’ manuscripts for submission to publishers and also student and post graduate dissertations.

Random Thoughts Prompted by Genius

Writing is often prompted and, therefore, unplanned. These thoughts were prompted by the genius of Stephen Hawking CH CBE FRS FRSA and a different genius in the world of music, the genius of Hans Zimmer. The composition prompting me to write, is Hans Zimmer’s theme Time to the film Inception.

Momentous ~ Outside Time

WRITTEN on 31 March 2015 its publication prompted the Author Note … (at the end) and which is why this whole piece - both poem and prose - is also found in Poetry entitled A Momentous Day. Six years on, my faith remains immoveable, and I have faith’s freedom to live quite easily way, way outside the box, nine years on.
