Ice Age

A Thousand Dimensions

Volume 1 2022

Written in a form of Middle English

What ‘tis this ethereal realm
Encased in water
That doth appearest now to hath solidified?

How so?
That Ice shouldst transportest mine being
to another realm
to another world
to another earth …?

Where seemest to me,
wouldst surely seize ye likewise
That this Wondrous Creation
Itself, be in mutual abeyance!

How cometh, so?

That life, aye life itself, doth seemest me
to be on the pause,
as betwixt a man who dost stepp forth,
then hovereth …
most fearful of his next step that he dare’st not,
and so dost linger
in mid-air
and on one foot?

Ist Alwealda Hisself mocking us? [i]

But as man hovereth,
He knoweth well fullest
That comest the Thaw
Doth Accompany a
Great Vista of Beautye
That shalt breatheth itself afresh
Upon us?

What marvel!
What delight!

then hovereth …
most fearful of his next step that he dare’st not,
and so dost linger
in mid-air
and on one foot?

A glimpse, most sure, an Realm
beyondest own …

Beyond his Reckoning
Aye, aye it be so …

so that it do’est nor’t more
than to point us to
our smallness,
our insignificance!

[i] Alwealda ~ God the Almighty ~ Anglo Saxon

First Written on 3 December 2014, upon receiving confirmation that to ensure defeat, my weaponry must be hormonal and radiotherapy
Victory assured when spiritual armoury opened up still wider to
faith and determination
an iron will
but with a reckoning too:

not mine, but Yours be done

Ken Webb is a writer and proofreader. His website, kennwebb.com, showcases his work as a writer, blogger and podcaster, resting on his successive careers as a police officer, progressing to a junior lawyer in succession and trusts as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, a retired officer with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, and latterly, for three years, the owner and editor of two lifestyle magazines in Liverpool.

He also just handed over a successful two year chairmanship in Gloucestershire with Cheltenham Regency Probus.

Pandemic aside, he spends his time equally between his city, Liverpool, and the county of his birth, Gloucestershire.

In this fast-paced present age, proof-reading is essential. And this skill also occasionally leads to copy-editing writers’ manuscripts for submission to publishers and also student and post graduate dissertations.
