The Try!

The Try!

This amazing image, sent as a greetings card, catches the power of the Lens in a manner that artists would not have comprehended before the invention of the camera.

To attempt to describe it, would have been met with the charge that “it was the devil’s work”, this mystical being that, even today, many believe to physically exist. Such is the power of religious ideology. I have no doubt of the existence of evil. A single character? Think it through. Carry yourself back to Eden. ‘Now, how do I help people to understand the concept of good and evil? Oh, I know! Create a man, then say the woman is created out of that man to be a helpmate, to keep him company. That nicely puts women in their place! I need to have evil represented. Oh, yes. I know! Now drive the nail in … have the woman betray the man.’ … … …

This wonderful photograph is available through framed Woodmansterne © 2019 woodmansterne.com and, according to the greetings card is printed at the Croxley Press and Made in the UK.

It is fair to say that family and friends the world over, have received this via my penned note within. Long may this continue.
